Tau Diarora turns into a political party

They lead the community of Vaal through crime fighting ways. Now the NPO has turned into a political party in an attempt to changes people's lives, politically.

VANDERBIJLPARK – From tackling gang violence in schools and the community to tackling politics, Tau Diarora has made a bold move, transforming from an NPO into a political party.

The newly formed and revamped organisation says it aims to shake up the local government in the 2026 elections, targeting big seats to fill to bring about change.

What started as a grassroots movement to curb crime linked to initiation school gangs has now evolved into a political force, aiming to take charge and bring change where it matters most.

Speaking to Ster, spokesperson Muntu ‘Stone’ Kama says their battle to restore dignity in cultural traditions led them to a much bigger fight, which is fixing the entire Vaal.

“Crime in the Vaal Triangle is fuelled by initiation school gangs. We took it upon ourselves to put an end to it by working with law enforcement and offering traditional guidance to young people.”

But crime isn’t the only battle they want to win.

“As we engaged with our communities, it became clear we needed more power to make real change that is becoming part of the municipal government,” Kama added.

The party has a bold game plan to tackle unemployment, root out nepotism, reduce crime, and push service delivery to the top of the agenda.

“Our public political representatives do not place the community’s interests first. We want to address Vaal challenges. First on our list is unemployment, which goes with nepotism, crime, and assisting our youth with various opportunities to make them better citizens.”

“Service delivery is on top of our agenda,” said Kama.

Leading the political charge is Pheello Mollo, the face of Tau Diarora’s new mission and the founder of the organisation.

“We [Tau Diarora and our leader] will vigorously pursue and support projects that are included in the IDP and place our communities first. This includes crime fighting and employment, supporting our youth, and decisively dealing with community challenges in general,” said Kama.
